Position Description


Job Title:   Print Production Coordinator
Division:  Communications
Headquarters:  Guthrie Agricultural Center, Charleston
Reports To:  Director, Communications
Supervisory Responsibility:  None
FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Nature of Work:

The Print Production Coordinator performs highly skilled pre-press and printing work, including advanced-level tasks in the production and duplication of printed and photographic materials. This position involves the setup, operation, and maintenance of wide-format printers and digital printers, which require technical expertise and attention to detail.
 

This role is best suited for a self-starter who is highly motivated and thrives in a deadline-driven environment. The ideal candidate must be capable of managing multiple tasks at once and applying strong problem-solving skills to quickly address technical or production issues.

Examples of Work:

  • Perform highly skilled prepress work in digital publishing.
  • Perform advanced level work in the duplication of printed and photographic material neatly and accurately through the set up and operation of digital and wide-format printers, and digital duplicators, that require advanced skills and work techniques to produce specialized reproduction of forms, pamphlets, maps and letters.
  • Set up, operate, and maintain hardware and software of electronic mailing system.
  • Perform bulk mail processing in compliance with postal regulations.
  • Update all department mailing lists kept on electronic mailing system.
  • May instruct and train new employees in machine operation and work procedures.
  • Performs minor maintenance on machines.
  • May be asked to participate in Department outreach events, including fairs, festivals and parades.

Working Conditions:

Office environment: sitting, standing, walking, driving, lifting up to and over 50 pounds. Travel may be required with potential for overnight stay.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in operating digital duplicating and printing equipment and other machines used in the overall operation of a printshop.
  • Advanced knowledge of print shop bindery techniques, practices, operations, and workflow.
  • Advanced ability to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions and maintain records.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat an advantage
  • Experience with ConnectRight Mailer an advantage.
  • Ability to communicate with others and give detailed oral and written instructions.
  • Excellent math skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

Experience:

Three years of full-time paid experience in the operation or maintenance or repair of printing, duplicating, offset printing presses and related equipment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment drug testing.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment law enforcement background investigation, including DMV records.
  • Must maintain a positive image of the Commissioner, West Virginia Department of Agriculture.
