Salary Range:  $38,000 - $42,000

Nature of Work:
  • As a Master Electrician and Certified HVAC Technician, performs and/or oversees all electrical and HVAC work for the Cedar Lakes facility and other WVDA locations throughout the state as needed. Fully participates in all manner of maintenance activities at the direction of the Facilities Manager or Conference Center Director.
  • Examples of Work:
  • and maintains electrical and HVAC systems at the Cedar Lakes Conference Center and other locations across the state as needed.
  • Inspects for damage, tests, analyzes and repairs electrical circuits, tools, and equipment.
  • Plans layout, methods, materials, scope of work and sequence of operations for electrical and HVAC work.
  • As directed by the Facility Manager or Director, may issue instructions to co-workers concerning cleaning, repair and maintenance of electrical, HVAC, mechanical equipment, plumbing, and building structures.
  • Assists with planning renovations and decorating office areas.
  • Assists with maintaining adequate safety protection for public and building occupants by insuring the elimination of fire and other safety hazards.
  • Participates in grounds maintenance such as beautifications, grass cutting, and snow removal.
  • Participates in building maintenance functions using carpentry, electrical, plumbing, roofing and other maintenance skills.
  • Makes arrangements for additional lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment as necessary.
  • May purchase maintenance and cleaning supplies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Standing, bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, kneeling, reaching over head, lifting over 50 lbs., pushing/pulling, sitting, driving, walking, outside work, and exposure to inclement weather, contact with water and dust, working from heights, exposure to normal construction materials i.e.; caulks, concrete, insulation and paints.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Expert knowledge of standard practices, materials, machines, and tools used in the installation and maintenance of electrical and HVAC equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of the State electrical code and the Underwriters' rules for electrical and HVAC installations.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety regulations and precautionary measures.
  • Knowledge of the various building construction and maintenance trades, grounds maintenance, and custodial duties.
  • Working knowledge of masonry, carpentry, automotive, and welding.
  • Expert skills to install, maintain, repair, and operate interior and exterior electrical and HVAC systems.
  • Skilled in estimating quantities and cost of materials needed for projects.
  • Ability to work from sketches, prints, and specifications.
  • Ability to lead and instruct others to carry out assignments.
  • Ability to perform in arduous tasks.
  • Ability to recognize maintenance needs and determine appropriate action to meet these needs..
Qualifications:
Education:   High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of vocational school preferred.
Experience:  Three (3) years’ experience in general maintenance or construction work on buildings, grounds, or electrical and mechanical equipment. Vocational school may substitute for experience through an established formula on a year-for-year basis. A minimum 1 year’s supervisory responsibility preferred.
Certifications:  Master electrician’s license and HVAC Certification.

Additional Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment drug testing.
  • Satisfactory completion of pre-employment law enforcement background investigation, including DMV records.
  • Must maintain a positive image of the Commissioner, West Virginia Department of Agriculture, and the State of West Virginia.
